I was recovering from hitting the lowest point in my life and was frustrated as I read scriptures and realized I didn’t have any tools to help me understand what God was saying to me.
When I discovered Bible Journaling I discovered a system for meditating, praying, engaging, and remembering scriptures.
Adding stamps, paints, specific and intentional prayers on prayer cards has not only engaged my heart as I study but also my mind as I journey to KNOW GOD and understand His love, His will, His purpose for me.
My journaling Bible has become a sort of spiritual diary, #MyBibleMyDiary, and it travels with me on family vacations, and was my lifeline as I traveled through the mission fields of Peru. The book itself doesn’t just travel with me, it’s words are imprinted on my heart and they stay with me no matter where I go.
The Bible is God’s love letter to humanity. My Journaling Bible documents my response to Him.
A journaling Bible gives me a place to document what God is revealing to me as I spend time reading even if my only response is, “thank you, Jesus”.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Here are three specific ways Bible Journaling can help you in your spiritual growth:
- As you document your relationship with Jesus and scriptures you begin to see a clear picture on how His love for humanity is played out throughout scriptures. This will transform your thinking.
- You can practice writing more intentional, purpose-driven prayers like Jesus prayed in John 17.
- Your journaling Bible will give you a place to reflect on your worship and all of your recorded ah-ha moments.
None of us can ever be fully pleasing to God if we are not willing to be well taught in His Word. ~ A.W. Tozer
My hope in sharing and teaching my journaling process is simple; I hope to encourage you to engage God’s word on a creative level, to help you explore your creative side, and give you the tools you’ll need to discover the truth about who God is, and who He says you are.
As you abide in scriptures His words will become your thoughts and your life will align with His purposes for your life!
