Today many husbands and wives, girlfriends and boyfriends, even young girls and boys in elementary school will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with candies, tokens of appreciation and expressions of love. Some will be delivered in love, others out of obligation. Some won’t be getting so much as a note.
Whether you’re in a relationship or not here’s a love note just for you. It’s pretty simple and downright fantastic…
Hallmark doesn’t hold a candle to the words found in the Bible. Pretty deep huh?
You are so loved, so precious, so treasured, that the Perfect One would sacrifice HIS ONLY SON FOR YOU. Oh, but it doesn’t end there. He didn’t just pay a HIGH PRICE to have you spend eternity with Him. He wants to have a relationship with you and not just once a year kinda thing. Yeah, I’d say that makes you pretty valuable. Now, if only you could see yourself the way your Creator sees you. Imagine that? Looking in the mirror and seeing who God sees? One who is worth dying for?
And, for those of you who aren’t sure what love looks like here on earth here’s a little reminder…and no, it has nothing to do with Kanye and Kim or Brad and Angelina.
Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut, Doesn’t have a swelled head, Doesn’t force itself on others,Isn’t always “me first,”Doesn’t fly off the handle, Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others, Doesn’t revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best,Never looks back, But keeps going to the end. 1 Corinthians 13 (MSG)
I hope you take a few minutes to reflect on this truth today. Let it sink in. You my friend are a treasure. Don’t let anyone tell you different or make you feel like you are worth less than this, that not just anyone, but the perfect One would die so that you can live. Now that’s something to celebrate!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Learning & Sharing as I journey to KNOW and reflect Him,
Diana
We have some simple Valentine’s Day traditions in our house. Last night my girls were busy making chocolate covered strawberries and pretzels for their school friends. My husband and I will take them out to dinner. Next week I’ll have a mother/daughter date day at the spa with them. Can’t wait! So tell me, what, if anything, are you doing with your friends or families to celebrate?
